Mandalay Mystique is a rare, captivating black tea blend that brings the best of two worlds together, blending Myanmar's highland tea with the expertise of Scottish craftsmanship. It is the result of the collaboration between the Five Trees Estate, Tea Kulture and the Scottish Tea Factory.
The tea is produced using leaves that are picked by hand from the Mogok and Shan hills, regions renowned for their natural scenery and history of tea production spanning centuries. Picked at about 1,100 meters above sea level, these half-wild, organically grown plants produce a tea that captures the original beauty of Myanmar's verdant landscape. Each leaf is picked for its gentleness, so this is a tea of the finest possible quality.
Mandalay Mystique, on infusion, releases a rich amber liquid, offloading earthy, woody aromas and the aroma of hazelnut, roasted chestnuts, and rye bread, creating a vision of being on a journey through an autumnal woodland forest of golden-coloured leaves. On infusion, there is a fragrance released of redcurrant and blackberry jam subtly overlaid by floral and citrus notes, leaving a well-balanced and a complex aroma.
The taste is vibrant and full-bodied, with earthy, mossy undertones that give way to a delicate, fresh sweetness, complemented by a hint of toasted grain and a smooth, malty finish. This outstanding blend combines the natural sophistication of Myanmar's forest landscape and the art of Scottish tea-making to produce an experience which is both earthy and stimulating.
Mandalay Mystique possesses silky smooth texture and a clean persistent juicy aftertaste of subtle dried apple and quince.
Infusion Recommendations:
Our brewing recommendation follows the preferred guide from the Five Trees Estate.
This tea can be infused at least three times, with each infusion bringing deeper layers of flavour, and passionate tea lovers may even find further complexity on each brew. Use hotter water for subsequent brews and adjust brewing time for desired strength.
Also excellent cold brewed overnight by having 8-12g of tea in a 1 litre jug of water placed in the fridge over 15 hours. Adjust quantity to taste.
