Himalayan Gold is an award-winning black tea grown in the high hills of Ilam, eastern Nepal, by Sandakphu Tea. Cultivated at altitudes over 1,800 metres, this tea reflects the cool mountain climate and the careful work of local tea makers. In 2024, it earned the prestigious Gold award at The Leafies 2024, recognising its quality on an international stage.

The tea is produced in small batches using traditional methods. The leaves are gently withered, rolled, oxidised, and dried to bring out their natural character. The result is a twisted, golden-tipped leaf that brews into a deep amber liquor.

The cup is smooth and full-bodied, with warm notes of malt and wild honey, complemented by hints of baked stone fruit, brown sugar, and soft spice. The wild honey character is often linked to the bees that shelter in the surrounding forests during the monsoon season - a trait that inspired the other name it goes by - Gold and Honey.

Himalayan Gold is a fine example of what Nepal's mountain gardens can offer - a black tea with depth, warmth, and a strong sense of place.
